The fresh and older wind slabs of the last few days have settled a little in all aspects. They can still be released on wind-protected shady slopes above approximately 2400 m. The avalanches are rather small but can be released easily by a single winter sport participant. At the southern and western borders of Aran the avalanche prone locations are a little more prevalent. As a consequence of a gathering strong southwesterly wind, further wind slabs will form from the middle of the day in particular adjacent to ridgelines on north and east facing slopes. <br/> In addition the danger of gliding avalanches and moist snow slides will increase as the day progresses. Shady slopes: The snowpack is dry; its surface consists of faceted crystals. The high humditiy will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack on sunny slopes. <br/> <br/> Above approximately 2000 m there are 20 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities. Snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. At low altitude from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. As a consequence of new snow and a strong southerly wind, easily released wind slabs will form on Friday. Significant increase in danger of dry avalanches.
