As the temperature drops a generally favourable avalanche situation will prevail. In particular very steep shady slopes as well as near-ridge sunny slopes: As a consequence of the new snow only isolated small dry snow slides are possible. In addition very occasional small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized gliding avalanches are possible. Over a wide area up to 2 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell in the past few hours above approximately 2000 m. The new snow is lying on a crust in all aspects. This snow is bonding poorly with the old snowpack in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2000 m. Sunny slopes: The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. Shady slopes: In many places there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
