Wind slabs and wet snow are to be critically assessed. Up to high altitudes rain will fall in the next few hours. As the snowfall level rises numerous medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large moist snow slides and avalanches are to be expected in all altitude zones. Avalanches can in many places be released easily or triggered naturally. Gliding avalanches are also to be expected at any time. <br/> <br/> As a consequence of new snow and northwesterly wind, sometimes easily released wind slabs will form by the early morning in particular in the vicinity of peaks. Sometimes the avalanches in these loacations are medium-sized. <br/> <br/> Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and careful route selection. Over a wide area 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell in the past few hours above approximately 2000 m. The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow significantly. In particular in the vicinity of peaks the wind slabs will increase in size additionally until the early morning. The rain will give rise by midday to increasing moistening of the snowpack in all aspects in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Moist avalanches can in some cases be triggered in near-ground layers and reach dangerously large size. On steep, rather lightly snow-covered shady slopes the likelihood of avalanches being released is greater. Sharp increase in danger of dry avalanches as the snowfall becomes more intense. Significant decrease in danger of moist avalanches as the temperature drops.
