At high altitude snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. At low and intermediate altitudes less snow than usual is lying. The snowpack will be stable on shady slopes. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. As a consequence of the moist air the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent towards the evening. The danger of moist avalanches will decrease.
